Disability Living Allowance Advisory Board (DLAAB) training

Today,  10th September 2008, I received a response to my letter asking the DLAAB to give details on the training provided by Christine Whitehead to DWP Decision Makers.  Apparently this was outside of the scope of the Freedom of Information Act. Though I was provided with a copy of her presentation is states that ownership is with her. I will attempt to contact her to obtain her permission to reproduce it here.

DWP Training on HIV/AIDS online.

 I received information today from the DWP on the Freedom of Information Request concerning the training given to staff on HIV/AIDS.

Added the information it is a large .pdf file 40mb you can access it by clicking here.

Below is the detail of what I requested.

 "I request information, in detail of;

  • Training given on HIV/AIDS for Decision Makers.
  • Training given on HIV/AIDS to Jobcentre Staff.
  • Training given on HIV/AIDS to Managers.
  • Training given on HIV/AIDS to “Medical Practioners” as defined by the Department.
  • What form does this training take?
  • What are the subjects covered?
  • Who delivers/provides this training?
  • How often does this training happen per individual? i.e. once a year?
  • How much is spent for provision of this training?
  • Are all staff that encounter a HIV+ person trained in the illness and how to deal with HIV+ individuals?
  • What & where are the current shortfalls in training in this illness for staff?
  • When are all staff due to be fully trained on this illness?

It is understood that computer’s are used to assess applications. Therefore I require information on the following;

How does this facilitate the “personal” circumstances of a HIV individual?

Who provides this system?

Which medical staff were instrumental in its design, what is their level of qualification and specialism?

Who & how are systems and training reviewed to ensure they are up to date?"
