while still having my DLA reviewed i received the brown envelope telling me of my benefit increase
the people at DLA now want a medical report from my GP they have also asked for one from my consultant , the thing is i have seen my GP probably less than 5 times in ten years ,
having been through all the various anti HIV drugs it would be quite difficult to come up with another drugs combo , so i see myself in the same position i was in when i was awarded my DLA under the special rules in the first place , way back then when there was no way of knowing what drugs one would eventually become resistant to
Thank you for sharing your story. If you feel concerned about the GP write (preferred) or phone the DWP and mention as above.
Usually they only ask for one report, from your consultant.
Good luck & please let us know what happens.
John.
I called the DWP and they said they had only asked for a report from my GP because they hadn't heard back from my consultant , anyway my GP didn't fill the report in , and after calling my consultant he has now sent the report off , he said that i had a really good case , so i now wait to hear back from DWP , i will tell you the outcome
Thank you for this. Another case of the DWP trying to by-pass the agreed process of contacting the HIV Consultant.
Given the extra burden these reports are taking on the workload of Consultants. It is taking time for them to be completed & returned.
I have started to hear more and more of GP's being sent the request for the medical report either in the first instance OR because there is a delay to the first medical report request to the consultant. Either way a CLEAR breach of there own guidelines.
Thanks for this.
Good luck with your claim,
John.
